Franconia has several opportunities for studies throughout the week. Some of these classes also participate in church-wide seasonal studies (Lent (pre-Easter) and Advent (pre-Christmas). If you are looking for something specific and don’t see it here, please make a suggestion to Pastor Melissa. We are growing our study groups; ideas are welcome.
Please feel free to drop in to any of these at their scheduled meeting time; we love making new friends!
Sundays, 9:45 – 10:30 AM – The Seekers, Room C304 (3rd Floor, Cokesbury building, above the social hall)
The Seekers enjoy coffee, snacks, and study applying the Word of God to their daily lives through a variety of interesting video series studies.
Sundays, 10:00 – 10:45 AM – Span of Ages in Harmony, Stage Room (1st Floor, sanctuary building, under the sanctuary)
The Span of Ages class offers in-depth study of biblical scholars, particularly Methodist scholars, on their interpretations of scripture. This offers members and visitors alike of all ages an eclectic mix of Bible studies, particularly Methodist studies, on subjects that explore Christian belief. This includes books that range from analysis of scholarly analysis of the books of the Bible, like Robert Wingard’s analysis of St. Paul’s 1st and 2nd letters to the Corinthians (Paul and the Corinthians), to Methodist Scholar Phil Yancey’s study of the uniqueness of Christianity (What’s So Amazing About Grace?), to different takes on Christianity like Benjamin Pratt’s analysis of Ian Fleming’s use of “007” in exploring Biblical principles (Ian Fleming’s Seven Deadlier Sins) and Nabeel Qureshi’s analysis of Christianity from a converted Islamist’s perspective (Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus). The class discusses future study options before deciding, and class recommendations are welcome.
