Franconia UMC serves with four other churches to ensure delivery of bagged meals each Friday of the month, to help those with food insecurity to have a source of sustenance over the weekend. Our group at  FUMC delivers on the fourth Friday. We usually prepare the bagged meals on the Thursday before the fourth Friday (which may or may not be the 4th Thursday, so always consult your calendar by counting to the 4th Friday and then look at the day before!). We meet in Cokesbury Hall and kitchen at 6:30pm, to make sandwiches and place two meals’ worth of food items into brown paper bags for individual delivery.

For more information see the display and brochure in Cokesbury Hall or contact Cindy Langan or Vikki Beatty or e-mail us at  All ages are welcome to help prepare the meals and to deliver them. This is ideal for scout troops and other community service possibilities for local teens.

Bruce and Michelle have re-loaded to continue passing out bagged meals to those who might otherwise go hungry. They are volunteering to serve the homeless and working poor through the Phoenix Rising Food Ministry. They not only share nourishment with those less fortunate, they share joy and the love of Christ.
