Please note chimes and handbell rehearsals begin August 24, 2015 – see below for specific choirs…

Starting in the Fall we’re planning on new handbell choirs to involve all ages (first grade and above).

Our current faithful choir meets on Monday nights @ 7:30 PM.

However, we need to grow the choir to include more adults and could also include youth.

New choirs to include:

Youth (6–‐12th grade) and Adults –

It would meet on Monday Nights @ 6:00

  • Children’s Chime Choir –

Grades one thru five –

To meet at a time convenient to the most folks. It would be a 30 min. session at 5:00, 5:30 or earlier. I would need at least one parent or adult at every rehearsal.

  • Daytime Choir During the week–

Time to be established later –

My idea is to make this a seated choir to encourage older participants or those that can’t stand during rehearsal or don’t want to come out at night.

  • Summer Family Choirs –

This requires your choice of one Saturday morning or other time and playing in Church that Sunday –

This will be a great way to introduce the whole family to handbell ringing and help you decide if you’d like to play in the Fall. While Reading music is a plus, it isn’t necessary. In fact we currently have non–‐readers in our group.

If you can count, keep a beat, and make a commitment, you qualify to be part of this exciting new program. Handbell Choir Is a big commitment and everyone needs to consider that. If you are interested in any of these 5 choirs, please contact me even if you already play.

Dana Harrison,

Click on the above link to hear the Combined Choirs of FUMC’s performance of On This Day, Earth Shall Ring, from the December 14, 2014 Christmas Concert. This piece is a traditional Finnish carol from Piae Cantiones 1852 and was translated by June M. Joseph.

** Please note the music program takes a break for July. If you would like to offer your talents to one of our groups or perhaps even sing or perform in solo, please email Pastor Guest or call at 703-971-5151.
